Job Title: Entry Level Estimator - E1

At Centex Homes, our estimators make decisions on materials, equipment, and labor that drive our multi-billion dollar brick and mortar spending.

As an estimator you will have an exciting opportunity to learn and dissect the thousands of parts and pieces that make up each and every home that we build. We use cutting edge technology to pull information directly from our digital drawings and with our database systems we can plug and play hundreds of configurations of each home with the click of a button. In addition, our estimators are responsible for performing field audits and driving the value engineering process through training and cost reduction studies.

At Centex Homes, every new home begins with a proforma estimate that determines the feasibility of building that home in a new community. From there final decisions are made as to what features that home should include and a committed estimate is made. Lastly, we proto-type each new home to finalize our actual estimates, and our estimators are involved every step of the way. Accurate estimates are essential for us to build our homes correctly, on time, and on budget every time!

The estimating role is a key position in our organization and an excellent foundation for your career with Centex Homes. It requires cross-functional thinking, proactive communication and great follow up skills. No previous work history required. This is an entry level position.

This job description was written by Ryan Lewis, an Area Purchasing Director. In this role, Ryan oversees all of the estimating, purchasing and product development for his region. Ryan graduated from Georgia Southern in May of 2000 with a degree in Construction Management.
